So far, we have been getting up every morning around 5:15 am and doing the workouts. In our past experiences, morning workouts seem to be the best for us considering our busy schedules. The first couple of days were pretty tough, the waking up so early and soreness. But now the soreness is finally starting to fade and we are enjoying the workouts very much.&lt;br /&gt;The workouts are as follows: Workout six days per week, alternating the Sculpt and Sweat videos every other day. The Sculpt video is a 38 min long circuit Training video that you can do with these plastic bands or dumbbells. We do this one with the bands, which I think is tougher. The further you stretch the bands, the more resistance there is pulling against you. For example when you start a curling motion with the bands you may be feeling 20 lbs of force, but as you curl it upwards, the resistance increases to about 30 lbs, whereas with a 20 lb dumbbell stays 20 lbs.&lt;br /&gt;The Sweat video is a cardio workout that is about 45 min long with some hellacious Ab work at the end. Changing it to 1152 x 864 makes everything on my screen look slimmer. That is exactly what I am resolving to do this year. No, not just slimming the appearance of the objects on my computer screen, but changing my personal "settings" to get myself slimmer and in shape. I know, I know, everybody's New Year's Resolutions go pretty much the same, let's see "This year I'm gonna eat right and workout and get in shape blah blah blah blah blah..." All good intentions they are, but intentions without a burning desire and meaningful purpose to accomplish those intentions, become empty promises that you can't keep. Even though they are promises you are making to yourself.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;During the upcoming months, I will take you along on MY personal journey to accomplish these "Eat right, workout, get in shape" resolutions and share with you my personal goals and what I am doing to attain my goals. I will also try and post some pics of myself of before, during and after that I will take during my physical transformation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I will be starting my journey this upcoming week on Monday January 9th, and I hope to make changes in my lifestyle that will last a lifetime, but I can tell you that they will last at least till Sunday, April 16th this year. Though recovering from a bit of dehydration, I 'm going to put my best foot forward this weekend and get a little sloshed anyway.  Here are my current plans. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1) Friday:  Shiner High Graduation.  My brother is a graduating Senior this year and there will be one hell of a party in town that night.  Too bad none of the baseball team will be able to seriously enjoy it because they will have a double header to play on Satuday in Brenham against Thordale.  This is the Regional Semi's and there will be one more series before the state tournament.  They played game one of the series yesterday the 24th and lost 3-2.  Game 2 will be at 2:30pm at Blinn College and game three will start 30 minutes after game two if we win game two.  All in all we got to win the next 6 games to be State Champs once again.  But all this action won't stop my shananagins on Friday night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2) Saturday:  Going to the Games at Blinn this day, and after Shiner wins both of these games, I will probably unwind by havind a few drinks poolside at the folks house.  I'm not sure if &lt;em&gt;they &lt;/em&gt;know that or not.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3) Sunday:  Catholic Church Picnic.  Ohhhh I just can't wait...I get to stand around in 101 deg. heat with 95% humidity humoring a few old friends all wilst listening to some damn polka.  My only salvation lies in a couple dozen 12 ounce pops with foam on top.  Don't worry I wont say anything to offend anyone until about 9:15 pm.  The effects of my ice cold 12 oz. buddies will have turned me into quite the gremlin by then.  You don't feed the maguiy after midnight and you shouldn't feed me beer after beer right after 12 noon.  The only way I can prevent anything serious from happening is if I consume my usual 5-6 cheese bugers from the burger stand before they close.  All I can do is apologize before hand.  Sorry people, my bad, I really didn't mean to say all those awful, awful things about you or your girlfriend cheating on you.  Oh I thought you knew already.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4) Monday:  I will take some aspirin and sleep till Tuesday. You've got to ask yourself, "what is important to me?" and "Am I happy where I am at in my life right now?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What are the most important things to you? The most important things to me are my wife and kids and their health and my ableness to provide for them. Then my spiritual obligations and duties. And then &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;my&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; health and well-being. Then you have to ask yourself are you happy or pleased with the level of effort you are putting into satisfiying your priorites. How do I try to do a better job on these areas of which I am slacking? SET GOALS!!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First put your priorities in order and figure out in what areas of your life you want to improve on first. You health is a good one to start with and by improving your health first, you will see that while you are improving on this area of your life, you will have more energy and be more willing to improve on other areas in your life. Once you see success in your self-improvements, your attitude and self confidence level will skyrocket and you will feel like you have the power to accomplish anything you want. The purpose of my starting this blog is to share information I have aquired through the years about health and fitness. I am currently working on writing a book about health and fitness though I am still in the initial "information gathering" and "brainstorming" phase. Not to mention it won't be easy to sell a book about health and fitness while not being in a current state of "health and fitness" myself. I have been working my way into a more "fit" self though it is a bit of a struggle, but just like anything worth acheiving it will be a tough to accomplish. Wait a second...I just had a brain fart about what to name my book...My Struggle....oh wait, I think that one was already taken.
